Training program FAQs
Get the clarity you need
Thinking about applying to the Kubrick Training Program? We've answered some of the most common questions about eligibility, the application process, training, salary progression, client placements, and our Training Agreement to help you make an informed decision.
-
We take great pride in hiring the right people to become consultants with us and who can hit the ground running on client projects post-training.
Here is an overview of the qualities and characteristics we look for:
-Strong communicators and collaborators
-Curious problem solvers with growth mindsets
-Strong intellect
-Resilience and adaptability
-Commercial awareness
-
You will be required to remain with us for the full duration of the 2.5-year development period (minimum 2.5 years) in return for the salaried training. This is outlined in the training agreement document that you will receive as part of our contractual documents if you are offered a role.
-
Our training syllabus is continuously updated to reflect the market, meaning we can’t always provide full details of the four-month training period in advance. Details will be sent to you with your contractual documents.
-
During training, you will receive feedback on test scores after every module covered. This will be delivered by a member of the Training Team. Post-training, you will have quarterly development sessions with your Kubrick line manager, culminating in a yearly performance appraisal, where you will review your performance against our competency framework. During client engagements, you will be encouraged to collate feedback and drive development on your own as these are key attributes needed to build your professional profile.
-
You will be expected to be available for the full length of the initial four-month training period as there is a lot to cover in a short duration. It would be unrealistic to expect you to catch up on any content missed during your absence and expect you to learn the new materials at pace. Time off may be allowed for specific reasons; however, you must obtain approval from your recruiter beforehand.
-
As a consultancy, we are driven by demand. In the event that you are not immediately assigned a client after training, you will join The Innovation Team where you will engage with internal projects, ranging from contributing to presales activities or contributing to Kubrick's growing knowledge base. We are continuously enhancing this experience to ensure you get the most out of your time post training and between client assignments.
-
As with any consultancy, you will be assigned to projects based on client demand at a point in time and skillset alignment. Therefore, flexibility regarding industry and location is key. Whilst we always strive to take your preferences into account, ultimately, we will decide where you will be assigned based on demand and where we think you are best suited.
-
We’re focused on establishing stronger relationships with our existing clients and there is a chance there will be at least one other Kubrick consultant on site. However, as we are still adding new clients to our portfolio, you may be a trailblazer and be the first Kubrick consultant within a team or organisation
-
Following your first client assignment, you will receive a salary increase every 6 months, in recognition of your increased experience and skillset. These increases depend on performance. This will come into effect from the 1st of the following month from the effective date. After 3 years, salary increases will be aligned to the standard performance review cycle.
-
When you begin your client assignment, it will be your responsibility to ensure you get to know the organisation, understand the clients’ needs and desires, understand your role, and the team you will be working in. Although your Kubrick line manager and our Heads of Account Success will be available to support, it will be your responsibility to ensure you hit the ground running from day one.
-
While on client assignment, your hours and work culture etc. will be dictated by the client rather than by us. Additionally, your client will inform you whether you will be working in-person, remotely or hybrid.
-
As you progress through the our ranks, your responsibilities tend to increase in line with your growing skills and knowledge, plus understanding of the client and industry. This increased responsibility usually translates into more complex projects with visibility to the wider organization.
-
This varies depending on client culture, team, and projects. Your day could include meetings with stakeholders to clarify objectives or discuss progress, or be spent on coding/building models and completing independent work.
-
We strongly encourage you to stay committed to your ongoing learning and development. It’s your responsibility to seek out development opportunities and forge your own career path within Kubrick. Identifying opportunities for development is a key part of your Kubrick experience, and as a business we are continually looking to support you in your technical and professional development. You can speak to your line manager and they can direct you to appropriate resources.
-
Our consultants have the opportunity to work on high-profile projects, such as:
-Developing predictive models for retail companies, resulting in increased sales and waste reduction.
-Building informative dashboards with Power BI to make data-driven business decisions.
-Creating visualization tools, predicting KPIs, and providing accurate forecasts.
-
You will be required to pass a series of assessments throughout the four months which are designed to test your knowledge and abilities, plus an additional assessment post-training. We require our consultants to meet certain thresholds in order to provide us with the assurance that you have the technical capability to thrive on client site. Failure to pass our core assessments are reviewed on a case-by-case basis but could result in contract termination.
-
Global Mobility at Kubrick refers to a programme launched in November 2023 that offers consultants in the UK the opportunity to relocate and work in the US. The programme aims to allow consultants to apply their skills to help grow Kubrick's presence in the US market, while also providing them with career growth opportunities and the chance to have a tangible impact on the US operations.
-
We have plenty of opportunities for consultants who wish to remain with us after the two years and would like to work on short-term projects across a range of clients and industries. You can progress through our rank structure, aligned to your capability.
-
You are under no obligation to remain with your client after the contractual period. Although, for the majority of our consultants, this is the most natural route, as consultants have developed key relationships and gained valuable in-house knowledge, resulting in a smooth transition to becoming a permanent employee.
This route is for consultants who feel like their client is the right cultural fit, and a place where they are thriving from a developmental perspective. Other options include continuing with Kubrick as a Year 3 consultant, joining our Kubrick Advanced program, or becoming an Associate Principal – this is not automatic transition and depends on role availability.
Whether you are contemplating applying for permanent roles or not, it is essential to discuss this matter with your client and make your intentions clear (this will start at your year 2 Checkpoint with your CSM). You should also take time to prepare and ask important questions. Your Success Team will support these conversations and reinforce your preferences during client catch-ups. However, decisions on behalf of the Consultant will not be made by Kubrick, particularly if the consultant is uncertain.
